Hell, yes. Much as I love "Elephunk", her best work was, and my guess is will remain, as one third of the greatest female pop vocal group of the last ten years.  |

Okay, I've done a lot of thinking about Stacy/Fergie, and I've come to the conclusion that...I don't know what to think.  I was telling a friend of mine about all of this, and I read through all my old posts and posts on my blog. The only word that could describe the state that I've reached is one I've coined myself - "Fanbivalent" pixielog.blogspot.com/2003_12_07_pixielog_archive.html#107100232021709825 (you've gotta scroll down a little) I wonder if anyone else is starting to feel this way? |

Here's the spin on my feelings. I'm proud of Stacy and what she's accomplished. I can't hate her for that b/c she's talented and talented people need to be rewarded. However, I can't help feel a pang of jealousy that WO have not reached that kind of success and a pang of sadness when she talks about her former groupmates b/c it sounds as if she's writing them off as "stepping stones" to greater success. In all, I believe things happen for a reason and though we may not get the answer or result that we want, there is a greater sign in the end. If it's for Stacy to follow this path, I can't be mad at her b/c it was what she was led to do. The same goes for Renee and Stefanie, they may be catching hell now, but these same people will be kissing their asses just to get next to them once they do something big.

But the thing that all these articles are wanting us to believe is that only successful people matter. It's like, Stacy was in WO, but they weren't successful, so those years of her life don't matter. Now she's in a group that, according to these articles, is successful, so let's glide right over WO and get to what really matters. That's what pisses me off the most. Like you're nobody until you hit #1! How many articles do we have to read that say, "Oh, she was in some girl group, but they weren't ever #1, so forget about them..." I'm surprised they actually mention Wild Orchid by name!

That's what pisses me off the most. Like you're nobody until you hit #1 Dawne, you just answered your own thought. Society loves people on top and momentarily. Would anyone care about Justin Timberlake if he had not been in a successful band? Hell no, winners sell more than losers. Now, the point that is missed is just b/c you're not #1 does not mean you are not "successful." There are sucky artists out there that reap millions, who imo, don't deserve it. Sadly, it's not about what you know, it's who you know in life. |

About the drug thing, shes human..shes gonna make mistakes in life like anyone of us. You cant expect her to stay that perky blonde from la in guess cloth forever. Shit will happen to change ur life. And for that, ur personality changes and u never want to look back. You just think about wats ahead. And i believe thats wat fergie wants to do. Yes she doesnt mention stefanie and renee that much, but why should she. What happened is all over with. Stacy is moving on with her life. Im sure everyone has a time in their lives that they want to forget and never want to talk about it ever again. I do. It means you went through alot and you want to move on. Thats wat stacys doing. Even tho i think drugs are the worst, maybe it was a good thing to show her she can succeed in life w/o the drugs and that shes blessed to have what god has given her. Everyone has to have a moment in their lives to show them the way to a better life. Even if its a bad moment like using drugs, or drinking. With all that happened in the past, Stacy is clean now. She going for her dream and already has won a Billboard Award. Everyone needs to respect and accept that. Its time to move on about her leaving Wild Orchid. I know they were all great as a trio, but its all over now. I dont hear Stefanie and Renee talking about what happened either. Why? Because they moved on with their lives also. All three girls are happy where they are right now. Why bring back the past when everything is going so great today and great for whats ahead? ps: Im re-opening www.stacy-ferguson.com. I have time now since schools over. Im making a new layout now. The site was going to be back up on December 14th, but i didnt finish yet. So probabl January 2004 will be he re-opening. |
