Here's an article I found tonight on janetxone's forum:
Going Solo Is Fergie's Destiny
Cathy Rose A. Garcia // 07-31-2006
Despite the phenomenal success of hip-hop group Black Eyed Peas, front woman Stacy ``Fergie’’ Ferguson feels it is her destiny to go solo.
The charming and pretty Ferguson said she is nervous and excited about releasing her first solo album ``Dutchess’’ on Sept. 19. She was in Korea over the weekend with the rest of the Black Eyed Peas who performed at the Pentaport Rock Festival in Inchon.
``What I do know is this is my destiny. I don’t know if my solo album would be as successful as the Black Eyed Peas. This is something I’ve always wanted to do, you know, my heart pouring out to people, showing a more vulnerable side of me rather than just the tomboy of the group,'' Ferguson said, in a press conference at the Paradise Hotel Inchon, Saturday. This was her first press conference as a solo artist.
Ferguson said her album has a U.K. vibe, from the title ``The Dutchess’’ which refers to the fact that she shares the same nickname (Fergie) as Sarah Ferguson, the Duchess of York. Her first single, an aggressive hip-hop club track titled ``London Bridge’’ was released earlier this month.
While her new album will still retain a hip-hop sound, Ferguson said there would also be several personal ballads. ``(The album) reflects my eclectic tastes in music because that is exactly who I am. This would be about my struggles in life, basically my story,’’ she said.
Ferguson said the other members of Black Eyed Peas are supporting her solo album. William Adams, known as will.i.am, as executive producer, while Jaime Gomez a.k.a. Taboo and Allen Pineda a.k.a. Apl.de.ap also participate in some tracks. The new album will also feature collaborations with hip-hop star Ludacris and Rita Marley.
However, fans of the group should not worry since the Black Eyed Peas is not disbanding, but members are just focusing on solo projects.
``We still have plans to do Black Eyed Peas shows, but we also have time to do our own projects… I see a very busy year ahead, with no days off soon,’’ she said.
Wearing a stylish black top, gray capri pants and big gold hoop earrings, Ferguson said she enjoyed shopping in Korea when she first visited the country a few years ago as a member of the all-girl pop group Wild Orchid.
``Korea will always have a special place in my heart,’’ she said
I like eclectic, so this could be promising. I wish she would've revealed some info on her other album tracks.
