"World Without You"

As some of you probably read on the official web site, singer Beth Hart ("Back To L.A.") has done a cover of "World Without You" on her new album. This was written on Beth's web site about the track:

"World Without You," which was produced by Oliver Leiber and written by Leiber and John Shanks, again takes us to a lonely but familiar place. As Beth noted, "It talks about a very painful situation that most of us have had to deal with in our lives. You're in love with someone who leaves you and now you have to face the new reality." Oliver knew that Beth was perfect for this particular song. Leiber exclaimed, "Beth is one of the few artists who can really deliver these lyrics. Something this complex requires a true singer to pull it off because it's so emotionally draining."

Anyone have any thoughts on this?

Aren't they a bunch of idiots? I really hope her cover doesn't take off. If she was so perfect for this song, how come WO did it first? She's that singer who always looks like she's hung over or strung out, isn't she?

Yeah, that's her. First, Solid Harmonies did a horrid job on the song, now Beth Hart is covering it. I'm sorry but whenever I think of WWY I think of WO b/c of the kick-ass job they did. As for emotionally draining, our girls invented it when they sang and pour their hearts into the that song. I know they don't "own" the song but I just hate to see them brushed aside as being the first to sing the song.

Yeah they dont own it, but it just pisses me off that other artists can remake their songs and take credit for them. i havent heard beth harts version, but yeah the one by solid harmonies sucked big time.

Ok i just listened to a clip of beth hart's version. it sux so much. she sounds like shes trying to sing like melissa ethridge or something and shes giving the song a kind of almost country like sound. It sounds horrible. It makes me sick to know that she is taking wo's song.

I agree.
Lieber and Shanks are just two more rats deserting WO's sinking ship. If someone else turns up with a version of a song WO previously did, I think I just might scream.

Another thing I was thinking about that makes me even more pissed is that Beth probably hasn't even heard the original version of World Without You, or even know who Wild Orchid is.
