I found this tonight, the main reason i posted this is because of the last paragraph and the quote from Stacy, its really sad to read this and then to read what she is saying now.
They are so close, that they can read each other's thoughts and finish each other's sentences. But when it comes to singing, Stacy Ferguson, Stefanie Ridel, and Renee Sandstrom of Wild Orchid are even tighter. One of the best female vocal trios in the business, Wild Orchid are back with FIRE the group's first new album since 1998's Oxygen… and whether or not they title their next album Earth or Water, one thing is clear: Stacy, Stefanie, and Renee understand the elements of music.
The trio worked with a variety of A-list writers/producers on FIRE, including Oliver Lieber, Robbie Neville, 3AM and Sweden's Epicenter. Most excitingly, they teamed with long-time friend JC Chasez of 'NSYNC, who wrote and produced "Just Another Girl", "U Knew", "Lies” (B-side to the single “Stuttering” a top 40 hit on the Billboard charts, and Top 10 hit in Japan, New Zealand, Holland and Australia), and the title track "Fire". "This was the first time JC has produced another artist," notes Renee, "It was great for us to work with a vocalist because he could sing to us what he was looking for." As down to earth as all three may be during down time, when it is showtime, they deliver big time. "FIRE is about our spirit and our energy," says Stacy. Uptempo tracks like "Stuttering” (the first single) produced and written by the production team 3 AM, "Simon Says", "Do Me Right" and “It's All Your Fault" contrast with ballads like "It's Only Your Love," "One Moment," and the optimistic "Little Bit Of Lovin’." "World Without You," one of the album's most adventurous tracks, is a sultry meditation on the meaning of connection.
Wild Orchid began while the girls were only in their mid-teens. Renee's brother, songwriter Bobby Sandstrom, helped them write and record demos, several of which landed on the desks of industry heavyweights. They signed a music publishing deal with Sony, and soon had a label bidding war going. RCA won the day, and in 1997, Wild Orchid's self-titled (and largely self-written) debut album was released selling over a million units worldwide, and spawning early Billboard Top 10 hits like "Talk To Me" (a record that made Wild Orchid one of the few female groups in history to debut in the Top 10 of the Billboard Dance Chart) and "At Night I Pray," a record that spent 5 months on the Billboard Hot 100. The album also received 2 Billboard Award nominations for “Talk To Me,” and 2 Lady Of Soul – Soul Train Award nominations, one for Album of The Year by A Group, Band or Duo and Best Music Video, for “Talk To Me”.
Subsequent tours with 98 Degrees and 'NSYNC and the release of their second album followed. Oxygen hit in 1998 including the Billboard Chart hit “Be Mine,” and “Come As You Are,” solidifying the gains of the first album. On this album, two thirds of the songs were written by the trio, and soon the group toured across the U.S. and Asia. On the strength of their increasing momentum and a couple of memorable appearances on E! Channel, Wild Orchid was chosen to host the ABC Family Channel's most popular Saturday morning show "Great Pretenders," which features chart hits lip-synched by everyday kids, while competing for top prizes. As if all this wasn’t enough, most recently the group completed an exhaustive 52-city sold out tour with Cher and Cyndi Lauper.
Now with a daring new look, Stacy, Stefanie, and Renee are eager to share FIRE with the world. "From the moment we got together, we knew we had something special," says Stacy. "We built ourselves like a rock band, from the bottom up, and now we have a very loyal following."
