I know that RCA Records were not treating WILD ORCHID very good during the FIRE period, but was it RCA's fault that "WILD ORCHID" and "OXYGEN" didn't sell?? All 3 singles from the 1st CD were too good to flop. I don't understand how anyone could not like AT NIGHT I PRAY, TALK TO ME, or SUPERNATURAL. They all shoud've made Top 10 on the Billboard Hot 100 but none of them even made into the Top 40 of the Billboard singles chart (hot 100). ... So, what happened during the 1996/1997 time period. WO was on SO MANY tv shows, so even if the singles didn't do too good, you'd expect the "WILD ORCHID" album to sell more than 108,000 copies. ----Was it something RCA did, or did WILD ORCHID just not catch on? Also, what type of promotion went on with the OXYGEN album? BE MINE was a single and didn't even make the Singles chart I don't think and OXYGEN only sold 22,000 NOT EVEN CRACKING THE BILLBOARD 200! How can that be. I saw on the official site they were performing DECLARATION on "90210" so that had to be promotion...what happened!!! ***I was just a little kid back in those days, so I don't really know a lot about what happened with WO back in 1997 and 1998 and if they were famous or not or why they never went platinum, ONCE!! Can someone give me this info please?! Thanks in advance MARIAH

It's definitely RCA's fault that WO didn't and hasn't gotten the recognition that they deserve. I am going to be seriously blunt with you Mariah. The music industry is drowning in artists that virtually have no talent. Artists like WO are born, not made. At the height WO's "coming out party" the music industry was flooded with bubble gum pop, like Hanson and the Spice Girls. The Spice Girls were all the rage. RCA didn't do enough promotion for the girls. They really didn't believe all that much in WO in the first place. They were an "experiment" of sorts. RCA obviously didn't have plans to keep the "experiment" going so, they dropped them from the label.
It wasn't WO's fault. RCA was/is just a piss poor record label. The one person that could give you a definitive answer about what went wrong is Ron Fair. Otherwise known as the supposed brain that brought WO to the label and eventually to their knees.
I don't know why it's so hard for the industry to embrace and promote artists who actually have talent. The only thing being promoted and embraced today by them is shit. And believe me, it stinks to high heaven. Yes, there are sporadic artists that are truly talented in the music industry today, but it's very few and far in between. WO was and still is the best female band to me. Someday they will get the recognition and validation that they deserve.

The blame can also go to Johnny Wright nd NSYNC! If it weren't for them, WO would still be out there right now, they should've hooked up with the right people like Edmonds Entertainment. Tracey Edmonds and Babyface would've put the girls on the map.
